How Long To Wait For A Date?

Brendan wants to know how long he should wait before asking out a girl who broke up with her long term boyfriend a month ago.

He met the girl shortly after she broke up with her boyfriend and doesn't want to be insensitive to her needs, but also doesn't want to 'miss the boat'....he would like her to know that he's interested.

How soon is too soon for Brendan to bring up the subject with her?

At the moment he sees her once a week at church and they chat occasionally.

He’d like your advice on this one….

DISCUSSION POINTS:

• Does Brendan, in his eagerness, run the risk of rushing things?
• Should he even be thinking about a relationship with her, so close to her having to deal with a breakup?
• Should he get to know her a bit more first…or is it OK to dive in, and put his affections for her ‘out there’?

The Bible says, "Wisdom is the principle thing therefore get wisdom; and with all your getting, get understanding."

"The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding."

The most important thing is the context within which you look at any situation. God is love = God the father loves God the Son and God the Holy Spirit; God the Son loves God the Holy Spirit and God the Father; God the Holy Spirit loves God the father and God the Son.

The place to begin is with the God who is there who has spoken to people in propositional verbalised revelation the Bible. This is why our Bible begins in this way, "In the beginning God (Elohim/plural) created."

If you understand this then you understand the universal for love. After this this it remains God's timing as the brother suggested in his kool commnets.

By the way I have 12 children between the ages of 18 months and 29 years, 9 boys 3 gilrs. Is God kool or what? Intellectual integrity rules.

I heard this discussion with great interest. One way or another, I may find myself facing the same question down the track. I say this to remind myself as much as I do for you. The key thing is to be patient and trust in God's timing.
