On Open House this week, the man who turned a struggling US coffee shop chain into an Australian success story. Peter Irvine is his name, Gloria Jeans is the franchise, and this Sunday you’ll hear Peter share his vision of how business can do more than make a profit. It can change the world.
Over the last few weeks we’ve been trying to imagine what the world would be like if Jesus Christ had never walked the earth. Tonight we’re looking at the difference he made to art and architecture. I think you’ll be surprised at what we’ll uncover.
Plus, book reviews, TV reviews, and another ever-popular everyday dilemma.

Thank you for Open House last Sunday evening and the wonderful wisdom of Peter Irvine.
I have had five weeks of unrest and turmoil in my working life as my work position has been made redundant. I have been struggling with the decision they made regarding my position and that I was no longer needed to do the work that I love to do. I always felt that God had placed me here with a purpose, and I really did not feel that He had quite finished with me here in this place. Recently my employer gave me the choice of staying on for two days a week next term and giving up the redundancy package, or taking the package and leaving. I did not want to do either, but listening to Peter Irvine helped me to make that decision. He truly is inspirational the way God worked through him.
He made me realise that I need to look forward to what God has in store for me next and not to keep looking back on what I have had here in this place. I have always put God first in all that I do but have also always realised the importance of incorporating family and work into the balance – this advice also helped me reach the decision I have made. I actually was able to make the decision quite easily after I had listened to Peter speaking about it all. It made perfect sense when I heard him say it, even though it had been going round and round in my head for days!
So thank you for your wonderful program and the wisdom of the guests you have on it, but especially thank you to Peter for helping me to see more clearly what I need to do in relation to my current work situation. I have now had the courage to let go of this job, look forward with great expectation of what lies ahead as work, and have a real inner peace about that decision being the right one at this time for me and my family.

It is truly amazing the power that one kind word can have!
I recently visited the Gloria Jeans in Epping, Sydney, and the kindness and care they showed me brightened my day.
I would like to let you know that I am praying for you and that the kindness and generosity shown by your employees will bring hope and joy to non-believers and that it may help them on their journey to find the one true God.
Love and prayers,
Sophie
