This week we heard from the Quit Victoria group, about the idea of introducing plain packaging on cigarettes to try and deter people from smoking...They want to see Australia become the first nation in the world to introduce this as a law.
I'd love to hear your thoughts on this one.
DISCUSSION POINTS
• Do you think plain packaging will help? Research shows that what's on a packet does make a difference.
• Do you want to see Australia become the first country to introduce the tactic?
• Or do you think it won't make a difference?
• I'd love to hear your viewpoint if you're a smoker - What made you take up cigarettes? Was the whole aspect of image part of your taking it up?
• What is it that stops you from quitting?
• Do the graphic health warning pictures and commercials make you think a little more about the idea of quitting?
• If you took up cigarettes when you were younger, do you think a less attractive image around them, would have made a difference? Or was it more to do with peer pressure?
• If you're an ex-smoker, who has managed to quit successfully, what was it that helped you stop?
• What will deter people from smoking?
