Talkback - Boycotting a Company to Make a Stand

The shocking incident on Sydney breakfast radio this week, in which a 14 year old girl was cornered into speaking on-air about being raped as a 12-year-old, has got a lot of people talking. Some are demanding that the radio hosts be brought to account; others are calling for listeners to boycott the radio station and its sponsors.

I'd like to open up a discussion on this idea of boycotting - making a stand against a company or a media outlet out of principle.

• Have you ever boycotted a TV channel or radio station, or a particular program -  because of something you found inappropriate or offensive?

• How long did you boycott it for? And to what extent?

• Did you return to it some time later? What made you return?

• Perhaps you've decided not to purchase a certain product any more because of the way they advertise or the way they do business.

• Did you feel it made a difference?

• Tell us your boycott story.

Firstly, enjoyed listening to last night's broadcast on this issue.

Earlier this year, I've realised how 'unedifying' much of the online newspaper websites are. So I have decided to make my own Christian news portal. I wanted a central place to read Christian contents without being distracted by any other irrelevant and inappropriate materials. It's called FaithfulNews (http://www.faithfulnews.com).
